It primarily invests in preferred securities, dividend paying stocks of companies, and corporate and taxable municipal debt securities which are rated BBB/Baa or better by S&P, Moody's, or Fitch. The fund employs fundamental analysis with a top-down stock picking approach to create its portfolio. It benchmarks the performance of its portfolio against the BofA/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index and the JPC Blended Index which is comprised of 82.5% BofA/Merrill Lynch Preferred Stock Fixed Rate Index and 17.5% Barclays Capital Securities Index. The fund was formerly known as Nuveen Preferred Income Opportunities Fund. Nuveen Preferred & Income Opportunities Fund was formed on March 26, 2003 and is domiciled in the United States.
